BudgetMate is a budget manager for people juggling more than one pot of money — household, business, a trip, a project. Each budget keeps its own categories, transactions and limits, with charts showing where the money actually went and alerts before a category runs dry.

Running several budgets at once changes the data model rather than the interface. A single budget is a set of categories; several are a set of sets, and the question that follows immediately is whether a transaction can belong to more than one — a shared household budget and a personal one, for instance, both wanting the same grocery spend.

Offline-first makes it harder in the useful way. Entries recorded on two devices without a connection have to converge without a server to arbitrate, which means every record needs an identity and a timestamp assigned at creation rather than at sync.
