Sellers list an item, buyers bid or make an offer, and the two sides bargain in the open before committing, which is far closer to how second-hand luxury actually trades than a fixed-price listing.

Auctions are harder than fixed-price listings in one specific way: time. A bid arriving in the final seconds has to be handled correctly and visibly, and the usual answer is anti-sniping — extending the close by a short window whenever a late bid lands, so the auction ends when bidding stops rather than when the clock does.

Pre-owned luxury adds authentication as a product requirement rather than a nicety, since the entire category depends on buyers trusting that an item is genuine. Peer-to-peer resale also means the platform holds funds between two strangers, which makes escrow and the dispute path part of the core flow rather than an edge case.
