aTownRides

Community-first ride sharing that keeps fares transparent. Built and shipped by devShakib.

aTownRides (ATR) connects riders and drivers inside a local community rather than across a whole city. Riders request a ride in seconds with pickup, dropoff and an upfront fare; drivers see the full trip and payout before accepting. I built the rider and driver Flutter apps — live location and trip tracking, fare estimation, push notifications and the account and payout flows.

Ride sharing is a real-time matching problem with a physical world attached. Driver positions are a stream rather than a state, and the map has to stay readable while everything on it moves — which is mostly about interpolating between updates rather than jumping markers to each new coordinate.

Transparent fares are a product decision with an engineering consequence. A fare quoted up front has to survive a route that turns out longer than estimated, so the difference has to be absorbed somewhere and the rule for that has to be stated before the ride rather than explained after it. Community-first pricing means that rule is the product rather than a policy page.
