Generate a sized SVG placeholder image for mockups. Free, runs entirely in your browser — no signup, and nothing you paste in is uploaded.
SVG is the right format for a placeholder because a rectangle with its dimensions written across it is a few hundred bytes at any size, where a PNG of the same thing scales badly and weighs more. It also renders instantly, with no network request if it is inlined.
The reason to use correctly-sized placeholders rather than a generic grey box is layout shift: reserving the true dimensions means the page does not jump when real images arrive. A placeholder of the wrong ratio hides exactly the bug you would want to catch in a mockup.
