Dice Roller

Roll any number of dice with any number of sides. Free, runs entirely in your browser — no signup, and nothing you paste in is uploaded.

Rolling several dice and summing them is not the same distribution as one die with a bigger range. A single d20 is flat — every outcome equally likely — while 3d6 clusters hard around 10 and 11, because there are many ways to make those and exactly one way to make 3. That difference is the whole reason systems choose one or the other.

The consequence for play is swinginess. Flat distributions make outcomes unpredictable regardless of modifiers; bell curves make a bonus matter much more, because it shifts you across the fat middle where most rolls land.
