A PIN-locked scratchpad for the codes and combos you must not lose — AES-256 encrypted, fully on-device.

The things people most need to keep are the ones that do not fit a password manager: a safe combination, a bike lock code, a spare key location, a router PIN. They end up in a plain notes app, which is a file readable by anything that gets access to the phone.

AES-256 with a PIN gate is the appropriate weight for that. Worth being clear about the tradeoff — encryption with no recovery route means forgetting the PIN loses the contents permanently, and that is the same property that makes the contents safe. Write the PIN somewhere physical rather than relying on remembering it.
