A private, offline group expense splitter — track shared bills and settle up with the fewest transfers.

The interesting part of splitting group expenses is not the division, it is the settling. A group of six who each paid for different things can end up with fifteen possible debts between them, and paying every one is absurd when the same net position is reachable in three or four transfers.

Minimising transfers is a real optimisation — net every person to a single balance, then match the people owed against the people owing. The other rule that keeps groups civil is recording who paid at the time. Reconstructing a week of shared spending from memory afterwards is where disputes come from.
