MathLadder

Adaptive mental-math drills that meet each learner where they are — offline, no ads.

Adaptive drilling works on a principle borrowed from psychometrics: the most informative question is one the learner has roughly a even chance of getting right. Too easy teaches nothing and too hard produces guessing, so the difficulty has to track the learner rather than the calendar.

Mental arithmetic specifically benefits from retrieval practice — being asked to produce the answer rather than recognise it — and from spacing. What it does not benefit from is time pressure applied indiscriminately, which reliably increases anxiety and, in maths particularly, that anxiety is itself a documented barrier to performance.
